Animals close enough to touch! The zoo is located on a slope and has an approx. 1 km long tarred network of paths connecting the 65 animal species. Extra socks are recommended for the bouncy cushion in the play arena.

With its petting zoo, large play arena and barbecue area, the Black Forest Zoo is a real paradise for children and an attractive excursion destination for young and old.

The Black Forest Zoo is not only home to Black Forest animals such as foxes, lynxes and eagle owls, but also porcupines, kangaroos and talking parrots. The zoo map lists all the animals that can be fed with the animal food available for purchase. Dogs are allowed on a short lead.

Thanks to its fantastic location on the edge of the forest, the diverse leisure facilities, family fun is combined with a walk in the great outdoors - all in the immediate vicinity of the Stadtrainsee nature adventure park and all just a few minutes' walk from the city center.

Since the beginning of 2013, the Friends of the Black Forest Zoo have been the zoo's sponsors, rather than the town of Waldkirch. The zoo has its own website, where you can find out everything you need to know about the zoo.
