Welcome to Bernburg Zoo

Bernburg Zoo, idyllically situated in the Lower Saale Valley Nature Park, invites you to an unforgettable excursion. On 8.5 hectares, around 900 animals of around 120 wild animal species and domestic animal breeds from all over the world await you, including lions, penguins and rare large camels. Families in particular get their money's worth here: a petting zoo with dwarf goats makes children's eyes light up, while the extensive tour through the various themed worlds - from Africa to Australia - takes you on a journey across the continents.

One highlight is the bear forest, where you can observe the mighty brown bears in their natural enclosure. In addition to exotic animals such as lemurs and cheetahs, the zoo is also heavily involved in species conservation and the breeding of endangered species. There are also numerous playgrounds and plenty of opportunities for young visitors to let off steam.

Thanks to its central location in Saxony-Anhalt, only around 40 kilometers from Halle, Magdeburg and Dessau, Bernburg Zoo is the perfect destination for a day out. Dogs are allowed on a lead, and after your tour you can take a break in the cozy zoo restaurant. A visit to Bernburg Zoo is the ideal way to combine education, relaxation and adventure!

Parking lot information

The zoo parking lot is located directly on Krumbholzallee. There is a charge for using the parking lot and payment is by card only. The first 30 minutes are free of charge, after that every hour or part thereof costs EUR 1.00, up to a maximum daily charge of EUR 6.00.

Travel information

The zoo is located on Krumbholzallee and can be reached from the city center in the direction of Aschersleben. If you are traveling via the A14, change to the B185 towards Bernburg at the Bernburg junction (exit 10). If you are coming from the west via the A36, this merges seamlessly into the B185.

Leave the B185 at the Bernburg-West exit and follow the signs to Bernburg/Zentrum. After about 5 kilometers you will reach the Tiergarten parking lot.

Public transportation

You can travel by train from Halle (Saale), Magdeburg, Könnern and Köthen to Bernburg station. After that you can use the city transport.

Adults: 7,00 €

Concessions for schoolchildren, students, pensioners, severely disabled persons (from 50%), unemployed persons, welfare recipients - on presentation of valid proof: € 6.00

Children (3 to 15 years): € 3.50

Children (0 to 2 years): free

Families (parents or grandparents and their own children or grandchildren aged 3 to 15): 16,00 €
