Welcome to the Sonneberg Neufang zooThe
scenic zoo in the district of Neufang, which is connected to the Sonneberg hiking trail network, is a worthwhile excursion destination for the whole family at any time of year. The petting enclosure with its curious goats and the new playground are particularly appealing to children, but there is also plenty to learn about the individual animal species.
Around 100 animals of 35 species are kept on the 3-hectare site: Fallow deer and roe deer, ponies, pot-bellied pigs, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, snowy owls, chickens... Rare breeds of domestic animals threatened with extinction, such as the Thuringian forest donkey, can also be observed in the zoo. The llamas "Maya" and "Fanny" have been living in the zoo for several years. They are well on their way to becoming crowd favorites. Recently, a meerkat enclosure has been offering visitors interesting and exciting insights into the lives of these animals.
Anyone who wants to can sponsor (their) favorite animal.
