Welcome to the Altenburg Island Zoo

The Altenburg Island Zoo is a small paradise with great appeal. Located in the heart of the Skatstadt, surrounded by a large pond, the idyllic island invites you to discover it every day. The zoo is home to over 400 animals of around 80 species. These include exotic fish, reptiles, monkeys, meerkats, several bird species and various hoofed animals. Visitors have the opportunity to experience animals up close in the petting enclosure, where they can meet dwarf goats at eye level. In recent years, an educational adventure trail has been created that teaches visitors of all ages about the diversity of nature in a fun way. There is also a small playground and plenty of seating for visitors to linger.
